King's College London, History, Graduate Teaching AssistantLondon School of Economics, International History, Guest Teacher | I currently teach in the Department of International History at The London School of Economics and Political Science and in the Departments of History and War Studies at King’s College London. In my doctoral research I explored how the political thought and political ethics of Augustine of Hippo were understood, taken on and modified by Carolingian-era writers to serve the Carolingian imperial dynasty. I concentrated on two influential Carolingian political advisers: Alcuin of York and Hincmar of Reims. The analysis focused on Alcuin’s and Hincmar’s discussions of empire, rulership and the moral conduct of political agents. I investigated how the political thought and ethics of Augustine - as represented in the late work "De civitate Dei" - came into play in these discussions. I developed a philological-historical approach to the Latin sources, which I applied throughout the thesis. It enabled me to point out references to Augustine at various levels of the Carolingian texts. (PhD diss, King's College London, 2015)
