About
I am currently a post-doctoral researcher at the URKEW project, department of economic history, London School of Economics.
My dissertation was concerned with the agro-economy and population settlements of Bactria and Khuzistan in the sixth to eighth centuries CE. I aim to define the economic boundaries of Central and West Asia during this period and situate them in the larger Eurasian economic system of the time.
My current projects include a study of the transformation of Transoxiana in the sixth-tenth centuries CE and the survival of local ruling families in places such as Chaghanian or Khwarazm prior to the ascent of the Samanids.
I am also quite interested in the early mediaeval history of the Baltic region and the eastward connections of Viking groups, particularly in the lower Volga region.
Otherwise, I am quite interested in antique numismatics and have worked on the coinage of Persis in the first two centuries of the common era, as well as Sasanian, Byzantine, Merovingian, and Carolingian coinage.
