About
Dimitrios hails from Greece. He has a first class bachelors degree in Political Science from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. In addition, he was the top student of his department during the last two years of his studies receiving thus a special award and scholarship. He recently graduated from LSE with a masters in Global Politics(2011) and worked with Global Policy in London, while he attended an intensive interdisciplinary summer program at Cambridge University. In addition, he is a recipient of the Western Macedonian Association's Greece National Scholarship for postgraduate studies (at LSE). He currently works as freelance writer with writerbay.com and as intern in Global Conscience Initiative which engages in conflict resolution and peace-building issues in Cameroon, while the upcoming October will embark into a research degree at Durham University. Other than that, Dimitrios has participated as speaker to several conferences, while he has occasionally contributed to blogs and local and national newspapers. The fields of his interest are critical theories in security, peace-building, and development; globalization studies; political and social theory. He is also interested in the use of the sub-fields of biopolitics, sociology of knowledge, and the history and philosophy of sciences as analytical tools for research and/or as research targets per se. His aim is to conduct research on the necessity for post-liberal development and peace-building, on the relation between Globalization and (in)security, and on the debates on the decline of ‘the West’. Finally, his interests extend further, namely to philosophy, psychology, biosciences, literature, and film theory. In this context, he has finished writing a fictitious epic novel with philosophical and sociopolitical concerns, while he currently writes a three volume philosophical work aimed to be completed in due course. He is also an amateur drawer, while he recently restarted playing the piano. Additionally, Dimitrios has been a member of the North Macedonian Literature Association(Greece) due to the awards that have earned in poetry and prose in a national competition. Finally, Dimitrios is a boxing, kick-boxing, and basketball athlete with also earned awards.
