About

I am currently a post-fieldwork PhD student in anthropology at the London School of Economics.

My doctoral research is based on twenty months of fieldwork in the community of San Martín Tilcajete, in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico. In my thesis I investigate the aesthetics, processes and politics involved in the production of Oaxacan Woodcarvings (aka "alebrijes") that are marketed to a Mexican and international ‘ethnic art’ or ‘folk art’ market. My theoretical interests include creativity, talent and skill; artistic production and intellectual property; and the politics of culture and ethnicity. I am co-supervised by Dr. Matthew Engelke (LSE) and Dr. Barbara Bodenhorn (Cambridge).

I also currently work as the Editorial Assistant for the Journal of the Royal Anthropological Institute (JRAI).
